RESEARCH

FABRICATION (WIP)

I am a fourth year student at the University of Tennessee within their Bachelor of Architecture program.

Currently, I am working as a research assistant with Professor Mark Stanley on researching speculative futures in the Oak Ridge region and am a part of Space and Building Fabrication for the College of Architecture and Design at the university.

My current interests are in urban planning and urban zoning and how to make city’s better for the future through the use of architecture. Programs that have helped me with this have been working with the Civic Design Center during my study abroad in Nashville and using various GIS software to analyze and act. Other interests include the creation of handheld fabrication models and scene building in various render software.

ATAM: DRONE GARDEN
Knoxville, TN
Mixed-Use Retail
2022

Software Used: Rhino 7, Adobe Creative Cloud, V-Ray, Enscape
The Robot Garden in Knoxville's Old City reimagines urban sustainability by integrating advanced robotics with innovative architecture to address food accessibility and enhance community engagement. Situated within a parking lot, the project blends delivery robots and vertical gardens into a self-sustaining ecosystem serving both local residents and the greater Knoxville area.

Inspired by the Starship delivery robots operating on the University of Tennessee campus, the design features a central pillar housing drones and robots. These automated systems distribute fresh produce and goods across the city, reducing food deserts and creating a sustainable delivery network.

The towering, bean-shaped structure stands as a distinctive architectural landmark, breaking away from the traditional block buildings surrounding it. Vertical gardens enclosed within glass facades produce fruits, vegetables, and flowers, providing a visually dynamic and functional design. Robots facilitate plant growth and harvest while drones seamlessly collect and deliver produce to underserved areas. A detailed hybrid map outlines drone pathways, showcasing their ability to extend delivery capabilities throughout Knoxville.

Visitors to the Robot Garden can shop for groceries, relax in serene garden spaces, or observe the robotic systems in action. The design emphasizes connectivity and accessibility, offering patrons a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technology in a welcoming environment.

By addressing food insecurity and promoting community well-being, the Robot Garden demonstrates the potential for robotics and architecture to transform urban living into a more sustainable and equitable experience.
